Point of View

This story is told in the first-person point of view by Felix, a young Jewish boy. Felix’s point of view is unique because he knows very little about the holocaust. His parents left him at an orphanage when he was very young. They told him that they were leaving him because they were having bad fortune with their book store. Felix has been at the orphanage for three years and eight months so he has been isolated from what the Nazis are doing to the Jews.

Felix uses the information that he does have to create stories to explain what he sees happening around him. Felix at first believes that Nazis do not like Jews because of their books, based on his parents' story about the trouble they were having at their book store.
