Summary

The family decided to build a bigger wall to stop people getting into the garden. The man’s mother paid for the bricks to build a higher wall as a Christmas present for the man and his wife: she bought the boy a book of fairy tales. The cat was still able to climb over the wall to get in and out of the garden, leaving paw prints in the fresh paint. On the outside of the wall, the man and wife could see the footprints of people who had tried to climb their wall.

While walking around the neighborhood together, the man and wife would look at the different security arrangements that their neighbors used while the boy played with his dog.
