Summary

Evangeline turns around from talking to the other young woman and watches Jacks cut across the party. His hair has changed from blond to dark blue, but Evangeline recognizes his beautiful yet cruel face. The girl notices Evangeline looking at Jacks, and without knowing that the two already know each other, explains that his name is Lord Jacks, and he is a close friend of Prince Apollo. Evangeline is surprised, clearly the Fates are not the revered beings they are in the Meridian Empire, it seems like they may not even be known here. The girl reveals that Jacks is in the North because he has been exiled from the South, largely due to a romantic affair gone wrong.
