Summary
In Chapter 12, Inti finishes burying Stuart’s body, and then she returns home. She realizes her period is late, so she goes to the pharmacy the next day and buys a pregnancy test. It confirms that she is pregnant. She knows that Duncan must be the father, as she has had no other sexual partners recently. In Chapter 13, the police begin investigating Stuart’s disappearance. A detective interviews Inti. Inti admits that Stuart had been threatening her for the money she owed him for the horse. However, Inti has an alibi, as she and Duncan were at Duncan’s home on the night Stuart went missing. Inti does not mention that she and Duncan left each other’s company in the very early morning.
