In the third novel of this series, a cat named Lil' Petey and his tadpole friend Molly are in the third week of the comic club. Their goal is to help a group of frogs learn to create comics. By now, the frogs have come up with a lot of good ideas for ongoing characters and story lines.
A frog named Melvin has set himself up as an agent for his sister Naomi. Melvin has sent an email to a comic publisher, and he and Naomi are busy making plans for when her book makes her a millionaire. They feel the publisher is taking a really long time to respond. The next meeting of the comic club takes place as usual. When Melvin and Naomi finally get their response, the publisher's message is that the comic is good, but there are some problems that prompt her to reject it. Naomi is so discouraged that she quits the club. Melvin is discouraged by the rejection, and he is sad that Naomi is no longer sitting beside him. Though he wants to give up, Melvin realizes that he has to be persistent if he wants to succeed. He sends in comics from some of his other siblings. The publisher rejects Poppy's comic because the ghost and skeleton dog are disturbing. Finally, Melvin gets the message he has been waiting for. The publisher is ready to take on the comic about the Baby Frog Squad, created by Billie, Frida, El, and Deb. The only problem is that they have to create 200 more pages before publication. The creators see it as impossible and are ready to quit, but Melvin is sure they can all work together to reach the goal.
Meanwhile, reporter Sarah Hatoff has come to report on the comic club. The frogs' dad Flippy is horrified that the frogs are behaving so badly, but Sarah sees that this story has all the elements of a good story, including drama. Flippy is torn about his role as a father, feeling he is sometimes teaching the frogs what they need to become good adults. He tries to make Naomi realize that her true purpose might not center on how much money she can make.
