Summary
In pages 161 - 193, the narrator takes the train from New York to Hartford after hearing about Trevor's death. His phones blows up with more messages about his overdose. The narrator was sitting in class when he saw Trevor's dad post on Trevor's Facebook profile. On the train he remembers the last time he saw Trevor. They went for waffles. Sitting in the lot Trevor made cynical comments about other couples in the diner. He was so high, the narrator refused his sexual advances.
When he gets home, he goes into Rose's room. She did not know he was coming. He bursts into tears but cannot say what happened.
The narrator attempts restarting the letter to his mother. He tries imagining where she is as he is writing. He remembers her asking him what it meant to be a writer; he attempts explaining. He...
