Summary

In "September 2017," "Shore Road," while lying in bed, Prieto reflected on his conversation with Olga. He still could not believe that Jan had AIDS. Because he and Jan had slept together, Prieto worried that he might also "have AIDS" (199). He was unsure how or where to get the test, afraid of exposure. He thought about his father, who had died from AIDS because of intravenous drug use. He also wondered how his life would be different if he had come out years ago. He went for a drive to calm down. He parked near the waterfront and thought about what Olga had said to him (203).
