Summary
As Tom is on his way home from the police, he has a vision where he sees a young woman push a toddler into the ocean. When he runs to the water to try and save the child, there is nothing there. He visits one of his neighbors, who lives in the turret of the Victorian castle, as he knows she has a young child, to see if her son is missing. She confirms that her child is safe in bed, and Tom decides he must have had another episode of hallucinations. She invites him in, introducing herself as Anne McNulty. She is a very kind woman, and very honest. She works as an actor in Dublin, and her father sometimes stays with her.
As Tom and Anne talk, she explains that she needs his help. She has fled England for Ireland...
