Chapters 29-35 Summary
Odd walks Stormy home, waits for her to prepare for bed, and then lies with her until she falls asleep. Above Stormy's bed is a framed fortune from a fortune telling machine that says, you are destined to be together forever. Stormy and Odd received the fortune at a county fair some years before. They waited in line behind a couple who clearly wanted to receive such a fortune but did not, even after trying almost a dozen times. Tied together with the birthmarks they have that seem to complete each other, Odd feels that he and Stormy are destined to be together forever.
Odd slips out of the apartment and makes his way to the front door. There, Odd sees one of the police department's surveillance vans. Odd believes the van is there on orders from Chief Porter to offer...
