Chapters 8-12 Summary

Fungus Man goes into Burke and Bailey's, Stormy's ice cream shop. Stormy steps back into the store to see what the man wants. A minute later she returns and tells Odd that the man ordered two gallons of ice cream to take home. When Fungus Man comes back out of the shop, Odd says goodbye to Stormy, promising to meet her later for dinner; Odd follows Fungus Man. Odd watches Fungus Man get into his car and then follows him to Camp's End, a lower-class neighborhood of Pico Mundo. Odd parks outside Fungus Man's house and waits for a short time. When Fungus Man leaves again, instead of following, Odd decides to search his house. Odd lets himself in through a kitchen door. Immediately, Odd notices how cold it is in the small house despite a lack of air conditioners.
