Jupiter “Jupe" Yolanda Maria Charity- Sanchez
Jupiter or “Jupe” is the third main protagonist of the novel, and the third book “Another One Bites the Dust” is told entirely from her first person perspective. Jupiter is the daughter of Papi and Daddy, the best friend of Coop and Rae, and friends with Golly and Britain. Jupiter is also friends with - and hooks up with - Breanna. Coop describes her in the first Chapter as having “grass-green fingernails, three studs in each ear, and a hoop through her right nostril” (4). Jupe is of an unknown mixed race, but half black, and likely partly Latina. She is also “organizing some community event” at all times (4). Jupe always has a heightened awareness of racism, sexism, heterosexism, and classism - often complaining about the “friggin’ patriarchy, I swear” (4, 3).
