Summary

Chapters 16 - 20 make up the second half of Book Two. Chapter 16, "Sororal," begins with winter break and the three families spend Christmas together. After Christmas dinner Jupiter invites Rae to sleep in her bed with her since the other rooms are occupied. They cuddle and watch The Lion King but afterwards Rae cannot sleep as she is very aware of Jupiter’s body. Jupiter thanks her for being cool about sleeping together since other straight girls might be weird about it, and Rae feels stumped but says she is welcome.

When Rae goes home she finds her sister Bess on the couch. Rae feels shocked and upset. Her Dad explains that Bess came home to surprise her. Rae thinks about how her Mom left and how Bess “was the sun in my sky after Mom left. My true north” but then Bess also...
