Point of View
Each of the short stories collected in Octavia's Brood is written from a distinct point of view. Stories including "Revolution Shuffle," "The Token Superhero," "the river," "Black Angel," "The Long Memory," "In Spite of Darkness," "Hollow," "Lalibela," "Little Brown Mouse," "Runway Blackout," "Kafka's Last Laugh," "Aftermath," "Fire on the Mountain," and "children who fly," are written from the third person point of view. In some of these narratives, the third person narration is limited to the main character's perspective. For example, in "Black Angel," the narrator strictly follows the main character A.'s vantage point. While A. is considering her new reality on Earth, the narrator says of the humans, "They thought following some book would open the barrier between Heaven and earth for them.
