Summary
In Chapter 17, the narrative goes back in time to reveal the events between Bob’s death and the appearance of Virgil and Rae in Florida. Weaver set up surveillance on Douglas Sansone's known associates. Rae told Lucas that she was on the case. Lucas met Weaver in Washington and the two men met with Louis Mallard, the FBI Deputy Director, and Jane Case. Weaver is almost sure that Sansone's group is responsible for the Coast Guard murders. Mallard and Chase authorized the use of a group in Manhattan run by the New York AIC and another in South Florida run by Weaver to destroy Sansone’s organization.
