Point of View

Oathbringer is told in the limited-third-person narrative. However, it is told through the eyes of dozens of different narrators including Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin. The number of narrators increases as the novel progresses and adds characters such as Navani, Paloma, and the reborn assassin in white Szeth. However, the overall tone is very similar from character to character, which gives off a feeling that there is a single narrator between all of them. This is what makes the book cohesive despite its complexity and helps unite the numerous points-of-view that are present, especially toward the end of the novel. For example, in the beginning, the novel is separated very clearly into chapters by certain narrators.
