Summary
In Chapter 16, Leah and Michel are visiting Leah's best friend, Natalie, her husband, Frank, and their children, Spike and Naomi. Natalie mentions that Leah is always trying to save someone. Michel says several women and a couple of men are living in the house at the end of the road and running a scam to get people's money. They also talk about Nathan Bogle, and Leah reflects that Natalie is “the girl done good from their thousand-kid madhouse; done too good, maybe, to recall where she came from. To live like this you would have to forget everything that came before” (70).
Michel tells Frank that he has begun dabbling in online trading with the money Leah's father left to them. Frank gives Michel some advice, which causes Leah to lash out at Frank. Frank enters the house, leaving Leah and Michel sitting on the grass...
