Summary
Chapter Five provides an overview from Leah’s perspective of how she and Michel fell in love and what their relationship has been like over the years. Although the physical relationship between the two of them was immediate, they only became friends after getting married. Lying in bed now after having been married for years, Michel talks about Leah's age and suggests that they “have to be a bit more, I mean, military about it” (28).
In Chapter Six, Leah is home alone, dancing while looking at herself in the mirror. She wonders where the time has gone. The doorbell rings. When Leah opens the door, she encounters a girl crying that her mom has had a heart attack. The girl laughs. She is so high that she turns around and leaves because she has forgotten her lines.
