Summary
In Chapter 9, one evening at dinner, after writing a letter to Lily, Nora tells her mom and Poe about the houseboat. Sharon responds by saying that Luke Fletcher now lives nearby, staying at the boatyard. Sharon also tells Nora that the local clinic needs a fill-in doctor, which excites Nora. A few days later, Nora and Poe go to the houseboat, which is well-appointed and beautiful, and they meet Audrey, Sullivan’s daughter, who is very sweet and knows Poe from school. After Audrey’s departure, Nora finally expresses frustration with Poe’s ongoing sullenness and sarcasm when she loses her patience and asks Poe to have some sympathy for her.
