Summary
One evening, Armando and Cosmi host a dinner for the people on the trip. Kate and the others gather and begin to have a lively conversation about the various animals they have encountered in the rain forest. Eventually Armando tells them they are all talking too much and straying from “their own interior worlds” (142).
After dinner, Kate approaches Armando and tells him about her work with some of the others. Armando tells her this is fine and normal and that she has taken on this role because Grandmother does not need to tell her anything else. Now, her only responsibility is to listen.
In “His Streaked Reddish Hair,” Katie works with one of the travelers named Rick. She encounters him on one of his morning runs, and he opens up to her, telling her about the guilt he faces...
