The poster
The poster that Frankie and Zeke make represents a world outside of dreary Coalfield, especially for Frankie. It symbolizes both the exciting possibility of a world outside the town and the scarier reality of what goes on in the world beyond. Frankie, too, sees herself as one of the "fugitives" in the text on the poster.
The hands from the poster
The hands on the poster that Zeke draws symbolize both his mental illness and the dark turn that his relationship with Frankie will end up taking by the end of Part 1. Frankie is unsettled by the hands even before she has really glimpsed the darker sides of Zeke's personality, foreshadowing what will end up happening between them.
