Importance: Zeke says this to Frankie in the beginning of their friendship, as they start to learn more about each other and learn that they have more in common than they initially suspect. He says this to her after they swap stories about their fathers’ infidelities, circumstances that are very similar. This is significant because it is the first moment that Zeke and Frankie begin to realize that they have a bond that will only grow closer over the course of the summer (before it abruptly goes away). Frankie is also relieved of some of the loneliness she feels in Coalfield when she realizes that Zeke feels the same way about a lot of things.
