Summary

At the start of Chapter 15, Frankie arrives home in Coalfield and meets her mother (169). Frankie relates that Hobart died of a heart attack years ago, and thinks that her mother “loved him more than she’d loved [Frankie’s] dad” (169). Frankie tells her that she was responsible for the posters all those years ago, and her mother responds that she’s “‘known for a really long time’” (171). She reassures Frankie that it’s okay to reveal it now and not to worry about people hating her as a result. She also tries to deter her from going over to the Averys’ house to try and find the backpack, because of Mr. Avery’s elderly sister (174). She also details how she’s searched for Zeke over the internet but had trouble pulling anything up (176). She ends up narrowing it down to three possible locations...
