Summary

Chapter 12 begins with Frankie going over to Zeke’s house, determined to speak with him (125). He tells Frankie that he and his mother are going back to Memphis to live with his father, partially out of fear that he will go to jail for what’s come of the posters. Frankie threatens to tell people they’re responsible for the posters if he leaves (127). Zeke’s grandmother begins to make her way outside and Zeke pushes Frankie away – she falls and breaks her arm (128). Frankie tries to drive home with her broken arm and is seized by a sudden impulse to commit suicide – she drives as fast as she can into a tree (130).
