Summary

In Chapter 18, narrated by Fallon, even though Fallon had not intended to leave her apartment the night of November 9, Amber convinces her to call her boyfriend, Theodore, and go to a club with Amber.

Fallon has drunk more than usual; so, she is feeling buzzed when Ben, who she at first thinks is Glenn (Amber’s boyfriend) joins her and Theodore in their booth. Ben claims to be a writing student working on a thesis about the probability of soul mates.

Ben admits his soul mate stood him up. They were supposed to meet, and he waited four hours for her. Theodore says that no girl is worth four hours of waiting. When Amber and Glenn return to the booth, Fallon excuses herself.

Ben follows Fallon and pulls her aside. He asks her how serious the relationship is with “Whale Pants...
