Summary

In Chapter 16, narrated by Fallon, as Fallon waits for Ben she is nervous because she plans to tell him she made the biggest mistake of her life when she discouraged him from pursuing their relationship. She worries Ben will not show up at all because she left their relationship in such a bad place.

Ben does arrive at the restaurant, but he has his nephew, Oliver, with him. He explains that Jordyn’s babysitter canceled at the last minute. Fallon is relieved that Ben does not seem angry with her.

It is only when Ben mentions that “we” (180) keep the baby monitor on at night that Fallon realizes that Ben and Jordyn are a couple. Fallon is consumed by jealousy and runs for the bathroom. She watches in the mirror as Ben enters the restroom. She cannot help but cry.
