Callum McGregor

Callum is one of the protagonists of the novel. He is a nought. He is the son of Ryan and Meggie and a brother to Jude and Lynette. Callum is 15 at the start of the novel and 19 at the end.

Callum’s eyes are a very distinct feature of his, as they reveal a lot about his inward life. Sephy is able to tell Callum’s mood based off his eyes. She says, “Callum smiled at me, the familiar twinkle in his eyes” (13). Another time, she remarks, “His eyes were storm-grey and just as troubled” (22). It is important for Sephy to watch out for Callum’s moods because of his tendency towards anger and violence. Additionally, Sephy notices, “His eyes were a lot older than fifteen” (20).
