Summary
Chapter Twenty, narrated by Guy, as he and his men return to Locksley Castle the next morning as they attempt to track the thieves, for they think the thieves have captured one of their men. Guy is wracked with guilt over leaving Bassett and not realizing he was not with the group. Guy looks at his new protege, Devon of York who had been associating with the thieves but had joined the Nottingham Guard after being arrested, and asks him if he knew where the thieves would go. Their tracker, Eric, follows the faint tracks of the thief’s oxcart but the trail goes cold and Devon tells Guy that the thieves would have no issue killing Jon Bassett.
