Structure
The book is divided into ten chapters, followed by five brief appendices. The book begins in 2013, with Ginsburg’s dissenting opinion in the Supreme Court case Shelby v. Holder. This eloquent dissenting opinion garnered much media and pop culture attention for Ginsburg. Chapter 2 includes a succinct timeline of the history of the gender equality movement in the United States, as well as a succinct timeline of Ginsburg's life. Most of the book is then structured as a roughly linear account of Ginsburg’s life and career. The book begins with Ginsburg’s childhood and youth, followed by her years I college and law school. The book then covers her career as a lawyer, in which she notably argued more than ten important cases in the Supreme Court.
