Summary
In Chapter 4, "January 1990, Fourth Form," Crawford describes the slang used at SPS, particularly the language of sexual relations between boys and girls. Crawford's mother believed the school required students to play three sports a year in order to tire them out and keep them out of trouble. Though Crawford was not skilled at hockey, she made friends through the team. Finally she felt her "friendships had come to life" (81). One night at dinner, her friends talked about boys. She could only think of dating as a transaction (83).
Before Crawford left for school, her mother gave her an additional middle name to make her sound more prestigious. She now realizes she was an imposter (86).
