Section 19 and Section 20 Summary and Analysis
Section 19 begins on page 98 with the words, "it was last Monday a.m...." Bukowski finds himself at a party with an older gentleman who is an editor, and the two talk all night. Bukowski leaves and finds a woman with car troubles, and notices as he glances in that she is not wearing any pants or skirt. He entices her back to his apartment, and the two drink as she talks about her abusive husband, Frank. After conversation, the two make love, fall asleep, and make love again upon waking. Bukowski pretends to fall asleep as he sees the woman get up and dress. He is saddened as she leaves.
