Summary
At eight years of age, Lena was afraid of everything. Many of her worries were about bad food and illness although rape, kidnapping and lack of sleep were on the list, too. She often imagined that other people were ill and contagious or that she had a fatal disease. Lena was sent to several therapists but didn’t click with them. Her parents finally found one she could work with. Her name was Robyn and Lena liked her.
Lena’s obsession with germs morphed into hypochondria. Over time they discussed everything from crushes to sex to her fears about disease and the unknown. Three times a week wasn’t enough to eradicate the fear that was always with Lena. She was suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. She ran into Robyn’s daughter, Audrey, at the office.
