Importance: This quote is significant first because it is said by a man who has been in an unresponsive coma for years. Also, he seems to be aware of Mrs Thornton's mindset about her son. He tells Mrs. Thornton that her son will be safe from the world in Christmasland. Manx is conveniently using Mrs. Thornton's fear to make it seem as if he's doing her a favor by keeping her son in Christmasland. She fears that her son's mind will become corrupt as a result of the hand held video games that are rampant in the real world. She sees the games as a threat to creativity and outdoor exercise for children.
