The Fishing Camp
The fishing camp was established by four men and two young boys, all from Leif's ship. The six are left to catch and smoke salmon, which are then to be used as a food source for all the men on the ship during their next few months of travel. The men have created some semi-permanent dwellings, which is where they are the night the ship arrives with the sick men. Leif learns important lessons here about how to smoke salmon, which is a skill that helps him survive as he travels alone in the wilderness.
