The BBC Studio in Belfast
Tessa is the producer of a radio show at the BBC in Belfast. The setting is significant because she originally convinces herself that she is doing her part to bring the country to peace by working at the BBC. However, she comes to see that she is just an observer and that she will never be in the position in the BBC to make a real impact.
The setting is also where Tessa interviews the justice minister which gives credence to the notion that she leaked the assignation plot against her. The IRA learns about Maitland's plans because of his interview at the station. The setting also supports the theme of false perceptions as Colette, who works there and is Tessa's friend, is a member of the IRA. Guests talk to her because they think she can be trusted.
