Summary
In the section Two Months Later (April 2012), Connell goes to Marianne's, where her friend Peggy is drunkenly presses them about their relationship. Marianne says they are not dating. The three of them talk about men's control tendency to control women. Peggy says if she were a man she would have several partners. She suggests they have a threesome. Reading Connell's face, Marianne says no. Connell peels the sticker off his beer as they talk. Though he and Marianne are sleeping together they are attempting to repress their romantic feelings in order to retain their friendship. Earlier in the week, Marianne is upset after her trip home. Noticing she is upset, Connell asks if she is pregnant. Marianne says if she were she might keep it just to surprise people. He asks what her family would think...
