Summary

In Chapter 19, JJ calls Ava at work. She tells him it is about time he called. JJ asks to see Ava, and Ava agrees. She tells JJ she is pregnant. JJ essentially ignores this and plans a time to be there to pick Ava up.

In Chapter 20, JJ and Ava go to Simmy’s, even though JJ wants to take her somewhere nicer. She explains she wants a greasy burger, but tells JJ not to tell her mother. When they arrive, JJ checks to see if Carrie is working in order to protect Ava. Ava asks about JJ’s life since leaving. He explains he served in the Army, worked and traveled around the country, and that he was even in a long-term relationship with a woman named Bea who ended things because she said JJ was unreachable.
