Summary
“Ten True Things” follows a woman named Dana. She works as a receptionist. Her employer, Rick, is a man who pretends to be an accountant in order to impress Ellen, a woman he likes. To keep up the lie, he rents an office and employs the narrator as his fake receptionist. After Dana learns that Ellen is taking a beginner’s sewing class in town, the narrator signs up for the same class and befriends Ellen. Before long, Dana and Ellen’s friendship begins to drift towards a romantic/sexual connection. Dana tells Ellen that Rick is not really an accountant, and Ellen says that she already knows that.
