Susannah Simon

Susannah Simon is the sixteen-year-old main character of Meg Cabot's The Mediator #2: Ninth Key. Susannah lives a secret life as a mediator and a guide to the lost souls who have not been able to cross over to the other side after death. As a teenager, Susannah has another secret which she keeps, unbeknownst to herself at the moment; it is who she will become as she crosses over to adulthood. Her status as a mediator acts as a metaphor for her teenage life.

Sarcasm and wit continue to define Susannah's personality. She seems wise beyond her years in her ability to analyze who she is now and how she should change in order to do the right things. Her sarcasm, while emanating from partial wisdom, simultaneously acts as a defense mechanism. This is most likely a personality trait which will not change as she grows up...
