Chapter Twenty-one Summary

In Chapter Twenty-one, Jesse uses his super powers to get the shutters off the windows, after fire erupts in the room behind the fish aquarium. As Marcus Beaumont begins to regain consciousness and as his thugs' voices get louder in the elevator shaft, Susannah and Jesse throw an unconscious Tad from the window into the pool below. Susannah follows. When Susannah looks up at the window from which she leaps, she sees Mrs. Deirdre Fiske.

Chapter Twenty-one Analysis

In Chapter Twenty-one, Jesse is impressed with Susannah's actions; Susannah feels proud to obtain Jesse's approval. This time Susannah does not need to be saved by Jesse, entirely. Instead, she saves herself and she wins Jesse's approval.
