Summary

In Chapter 14, Alex and Dawes are back at the Hutch after their visit to Wolf’s Head. Alex asks Dawes if she recognizes the name Jean Du Monde, but she does not. Alex tells her that North has not seen Darlington’s ghost, and Dawes gets eager about bringing him back. They are only a few days way from holding the new-moon ritual.

Alex leaves Dawes to find Tripp Helmuth since he has a connection to Tara. Alex privately asks Tripp about Tara, and he immediately gets defensive. Alex lies and tells him that she is trying to protect him. Reluctantly, Tripp reveals he and Tara used to get high and have casual sex, and swears nothing else happened between them. Alex asks if he saw Tara with any other society members, and he says yes.
