Naheed Mohamadi
Naheed Mohamadi is among the middle school students in the novel. Naheed is a Muslin who has lived in America her entire life. She has never even visited Iran. As an adolescent, Naheed is beginning to feel self-conscious about the stares she receives when she is seen outside her hometown wearing her hijab. She wishes that she were as willing as her younger sister to teach others about their religion and the reason that they dress the way they do.
Naheed’s conflict comes when she unintentionally causes Eliza to be teased by asking her to stop asking questions about Naheed's hijab.
