Summary

Chapter 11 – Ballister goes to see Dr. Meredith Blitzmeyer about the shapeshifter. Both realize that the beast Gloreth supposedly killed never actually died – but is Nimona. Ballister asks to borrow the Anomalous Energy Enhancer. Meredith agrees so long as the Anomalous Energy Enhancer is not wrecked. Ballister delivers the device to Goldenloin. Meanwhile, the Director personally fights the monster with a jaderoot firearm. She is no match for the beast, who destroys her. Goldenloin then arrives to do battle. The Anomalous Energy Enhancer saps away the energy of the monster, making the fight more even. In a flashback, Nimona is shown as a 6-year-old girl whose parents believed she had been replaced by a foul creature. It is shown that Nimona was taken to a lab and cruelly experimented on until she rebelled and fled. In the present, Ballister rescues Nimona’s other half...
