Summary

In “Card IV The World,” Zeena told Stan she wanted to continue their affair. One night, Stan felt the bed shaking and realized Zeena was crying. She told him she was thinking about Pete because she had sorted through his things and found the book in which he had written the unique code they used in vaudeville.

Stan was excited but knew he did not need to be too eager. After they made love again, Stan asked Zeena what they were going to do about her act. He suggested they could try doing a code act together. Stan promised he could memorize the codes. Zeena loaned him Pete’s book but warned him not to let anything happen to it.

Stan hurried back to his own room to read the book. Pete had written that human nature...
