Nighbitch

Nightbitch is the main character of the novel. At the start of the novel, the narrator simply calls Nightbitch, the mother. As she comes to adopt her new identity in Chapter 2, the narrator begins referring to her solely as Nightbitch. She is referred to as Nightbitch throughout this guide for reasons of clarity.

Nightbitch is a new mother. Though she has multiple masters degrees and has worked in the artistic world for many years, not long after her son is born, she decides to give up her job at the art gallery. She tries to be the working mother, but finds it too difficult to be away from her son. She is also worried about his poor care at the daycare center, and is constantly tired while working.
