Summary
In "Odysseus Rex" a man enters the speaker's room after being gone for a long time, and they dance together. The illusion is shattered when the speaker realizes he has just been seeing himself reflected in a mirror, and there is no one else there.
"Logophobia" describes the speaker waking up and writing "gia dinh" (Vietnamese for family) in a notebook (80). They see bones through the letters, and imagine that the period is the bullet that entered their father's back, and they reflect that the enter life the way words enter them, which is by falling through the silence of their mouth.
In "Someday I'll Love Ocean Vuong" the speaker addresses Ocean Vuong, offering him comfort and assurance about his life and himself.
"Devotion" begins with the speaker giving oral sex to a man in January, and thinking about how much he loves...
