Chapter 43 Summary
John walks into the Old Brookville Police Department, where he talks to the person on duty, Sergeant Roberts. John tells Roberts that he is investigating a witness to a crime and asks him whether he knows the Winslows. Sergeant Roberts says he does know them and that Mr. Winslow is an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and travels a lot for business. John asks Sergeant Roberts if he can do something to get Mr. Winslow out of the house. Sergeant Roberts calls the Winslow's house and tells Mark Winslow that there have been reports of a prowler in the neighborhood. John gets on the phone, introduces himself as a cop and asks Winslow whether he will home in the morning. Winslow tells him that he will be playing golf but that his wife will be home until she goes to church at 10:00. John...
