Chapter 34 Summary

Roxanne is quickly getting drunk as John continues to ask her questions about the room. He asks her what the couple could have been doing during those two and a half hours before they went to the beach. Roxanne tells John that the television was off when she came in the room, but she turned it on so that she could watch coverage of the crash. John asks Roxanne about the fact that the couple checked in at 4:30 that day and didn't leave the room until around 7:00 p.m. He asks Roxanne whether she suspects what they might have been doing during that time. She tells him that they could have had sex, napped or popped in a videotape. John points out that there isn't a VCR in the room, and Roxanne tells him that there used to be one in there. The...
