Chapter 31 Summary

John and Kate spend the rest of the day at 26 Federal Plaza getting ready for their trips. John meets Kate at a bar called Ecco at around 6:00. Some people from their office - both FBI and ATTF agents - show up, so it turns into a bon voyage party for Kate and John. John's ex-wife Robin is there. She and John exchange pleasantries, and Robin and Kate meet and are genuinely friendly towards each other. Jack Koenig gives a short send-off speech for John and Kate. David Stein approaches John and tells him that his snooping into the crash investigation has scared a lot of people. During the night Liam Griffith also approaches John. The two men exchange insults, and Griffith specifically mentions Kate spending a month at the Bayview Hotel with Ted Nash during the investigation after the crash. This makes John...
