Chapter 23 Summary
John walks to the check-in counter and tells the young man at the counter that he wants to get a room and that he wants to pay for it in cash. He tells the man he will give him a $500 deposit and his business card. When the young man starts giving him a hard time, John shoves two $20 bills in the man's face, and the man takes the money. John then tells the hotel clerk that he is with the FBI and that he does not really want a room. He wants to talk to the manager Leslie Rosenthal.
The man calls for Leslie Rosenthal's assistant, Susan Corva, who arrives quickly and takes John to Rosenthal's office. John meets Rosenthal, introduces himself as an FBI agent and tells him that he is conducting follow-up on the TWA crash. Rosenthal tells John that several...
