Chapter 21 Summary
John takes the ferry back over to Manhattan and goes to a restaurant where Kate is waiting for him at the bar. He sits down with her, and he starts telling her about his conversation with Marie. John tells Kate that the three federal agents in charge of the investigation did not share any information with the NYPD police. John asks Kate how she found out about the Westhampton police report describing the beach blanket, and Kate explains that Ted Nash told her about the blanket when they were having drinks together one night. John points out that he has never heard about her having drinks with Ted Nash before, and he asks Kate why she lied to him. Kate responds that she knew it would make John mad. She then says that one night when Nash had had too much to drink...
